Shikai
Shikai is the initial sword-release form available to Shinigami players in Type://Soul. Inspired by the Bleach anime, it represents the first step of bonding with your Zanpakuto spirit and dramatically expands your combat toolkit. Shinigami can unlock Shikai at Grade 2 by meditating and naming their inner spirit.
Key Stats / Info
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Race Required | Shinigami |
| Rank Required | Grade 2 |
| Keybinds | Z, X, C |
| Element | Varies by Shikai type (Fire, Ice, Illusion, etc.) |
| Rarity | Random roll on Spirit |
How to Obtain
- Play as a Shinigami and reach Grade 2 through PvP/PvE progression.
- Meditate in Soul Society to enter your inner world.
- Name your Zanpakuto — correctly identifying and calling out the spirit’s name triggers the release.
- A cutscene plays and Shikai is permanently unlocked.
Notable Shikai types include common elements (Fire, Water, Lightning) and rare variants like Kyōka Suigetsu (0.5% drop rate, illusion-based) which are among the most sought-after in the game.
Abilities
Once Shikai is active, three ability slots are unlocked:
| Slot | Key | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Ability 1 | Z | Primary offensive skill tied to your element |
| Ability 2 | X | Secondary skill (crowd control, mobility, or utility) |
| Ability 3 | C | Signature move unique to your Shikai type |
Notes
- Shikai is a prerequisite for unlocking Bankai — you cannot start the Bankai quest without it.
- Each Shikai element has a different playstyle; rare Shikai types are generally more powerful in PvP.
- Kyōka Suigetsu revolves around deception and stat-swapping — ideal for outplaying opponents through misdirection.
- You can reroll your Shikai element using a Soul Ticket (full character reset) or specific items.
