How to Obtain
Ancient Fish cannot be bought or traded directly — they must be caught through fishing. To maximize your chances:
- Fish in high-tier zones like Roslit Bay or the Desolate Deep
- Equip a top-tier rod such as the Rod of the Depths or Heaven’s Rod (150–225% Luck)
- Use high-luck bait like Golden Coin bait (1,000 luck) or Tryhard Worm (50,000 luck)
- Complete area challenges to unlock access to zones where Ancients spawn
- Some Ancient Fish only appear during specific weather or night conditions
Notes
- Ancient Fish are tracked separately in your Fish Encyclopedia and count toward completion rewards
- Selling Ancient Fish at the Fishmonger is the fastest source of late-game coins
- Several Ancient Fish have unique glowing or mutated appearances
