Rescue Missing Children Safely
Missing children are the main progression objective, but a rescue route can destroy a run if players treat it like normal looting. The safer approach is to prepare the route first, then rescue only when the map, food, light, and return path support the attempt.
Rescue Readiness Check
Before leaving camp, answer these questions:
- Is the target area revealed enough to navigate?
- Is the Campfire fueled for the time you will be away?
- Does the rescue team have food?
- Is at least one player carrying light?
- Does the group know when to turn back?
If the answer is no, wait. Delaying one cycle is better than losing the run.
Solo Rescue
Solo rescue attempts should be short and planned. Bring food, keep your route simple, and return when the trigger hits. Do not chase extra buildings after finding the rescue path. Your goal is to bring progress home, not to clear the whole map.
Team Rescue
Teams should split responsibility, not scatter. One player leads the route, one watches light and danger, one carries food or support, and one stays aware of the Campfire. If everyone chases the objective without a return call, the rescue becomes a wipe risk.
Abort Signals
Cancel the rescue if the route takes longer than expected, if the team runs out of food, if light is nearly gone, or if players start pulling enemies from different directions. A failed rescue usually costs fuel, food, tools, and time, so the safe choice is often to return and try again with better supplies.
Do not turn a rescue attempt into a loot sweep. Extra chests and side buildings are only worth it when the team still has a clear route home. If one player keeps exploring while the rest return, the group loses the coordination that makes rescue routes safer.
After The Rescue
After a successful rescue, do not immediately launch another deep route. Return, cook, refuel, sort items, and check whether the team has enough supplies for the next objective.
