Iron Axe
The Iron Axe is the best melee weapon available in 99 Nights in the Forest. It serves a dual purpose: chopping trees for wood (critical for campfire fuel) and fighting back against creatures. Its reach, damage output, and durability make it the preferred tool for players who have survived beyond Night 3.

How to Obtain
- Crafting: The primary method — collect 3 Iron Ore (from rock outcroppings) and 2 Wood at a crafting bench
- Abandoned Camps: Rarely found pre-made at survivor camps scattered through the forest
- Supply Drops: Occasional supply events drop an Iron Axe along with other gear
Combat Tips
- Swing timing matters — a well-timed heavy swing deals 50 damage vs the standard 35
- Against the Wendigo, aim upward for head hits: 3–4 head shots can drive it off
- The Shadow Beast requires you to keep your Flashlight on it while swinging — have a teammate light it up
- Repair the axe at a crafting bench with 1 Iron Ore before it breaks — never let it reach zero durability in the field
- At night, keep the axe equipped and ready rather than storing it in your inventory
